Becki Image and Pilgrimage 1

In the first chapter the Turners talk about liminality, which is a transition between one state of being to another, sometimes experienced through a pilgrimage. This state of being shows what is going to be and what may be. The pilgrimage can be anything from the Camino De Santiago to hiking the Appalachian Trail as long as there is a higher purpose behind the pilgrimage which can be a promise made to God for a certain fulfillment of prayer or seeking spiritual guidance.
