Bret Marfut natural setting Appalachian Trail
Last week, I went home for the second time this semester. While I was home, I had the opportunity to go camping on the Appalachian Trail. A few of my friends and I took a tent and sleeping bags, parked at the entrance to a side trail that lead to the Appalachian. We started walking, but after about half a mile came to a split in the trail. It was already getting dark, and we could not see the sign that said which was which, so we picked one of the trails and started walking. After about half a mile, we realized that it was not the right trail, but by then it was too dark to turn around, so we pitched the tent and made a fire in a clearing immediately off of the trail. I didn’t know where we were, but when the sun came up the next morning, I realized that we were in a clearing overlooking the valley, a beautiful and breathtaking view, a view that I would not have seen if I had not gotten lost.
