Chelsea Huber - The Mountain That Was God

Landscaped of the Sacred

Americans name places based on who discovered them. This is a sign of our property obsessed culture. We do not share things and experiences the way that other cultures do. The Native Americans named places based on the terrain and history of the place. Mt. Tahoma was called 'the mountain that was god' by native americans because of the characteristics of the land. The mountain is so large and tall that is is imposing like god. The culture of native americans shows an incredible amount of caring for nature. This caring in combination with respect for the land makes the native americans more connected to the earth.
