Crystal Kernan #4 Image and Pilgrimage

Personally, I have come to understand the word "flow" in a different kind of way. Flow is defined in Turner's book as the crucial component of enjoyment. It makes sense to me now when people say they are "just going with flow." By making that statement, one is basically saying that their just enjoying life and taking it as it comes. Ultimately, flow is a holistic sensation, which is a feeling felt by your whole being. You act with total involvement, for example, playing sports. While one is in flow, action follows action without necessarily having to think about it. In other words, flow is unstructed, either it is going to happen on it is not. You can make something happen, not unless you have some type of magical powers. Flow can happen at anytime as long as their is no conscious intervention. For instance, with musicians participating in a jam session, the drummer is not necessarily thinking of anything. The rythym is memorized and his hands holding the sticks beat on the drums, which creates a flow.
