Daniel Mejia Liminality

There are three stages that accompany any right of passage. The most important stage that we covered was the liminal stage of the rights of passage. The liminal stage is the middle stage of a journey where “the ritual subject or liminar passes through a symbolic domain that has few or more of the attributes of his past or coming state.” When individuals feel a sense of equality during a pilgrimage, most of what was bound to social structure is liberated. This sense of equality is ever present in the liminal stage of a journey.
