Elizabeth Robertson: Free Topic #3-Music
Music is the an expression of what you are feeling, and it voices what you cannot. I often find myself wishing I had written the lyrics to a song because it is so on point with what I am feeling at that moment, and I cannot think of a better way to word it. But not just the words. The music itself is an expression of things we feel but can't even articulate to ourselves in our heads. I know this is probably the most cliche thing ever, but I often think that music could be soundtracks to our lives. If you consider the music and scores that go along with a lot of movies, it makes sense. The movie would be really weird and even kind of boring with out that music. One song that I love is called Prairie Town by the Wailin Jenny's. One of my favorite lines in that song is "my eyes are heavy and my heart is sore." The words are pretty simple, but the women's tone is so filled with sadness to leave her home that anyone can relate. That is just what I love about music. It articulates in a better way than I can, the words that I can say, and the music itself articulates the words that even I cannot say.
