Elizabeth Robertson: Outside Reading-The Lovely Bones

The Lovely Bones is a very interesting book about a girl who is killed watches her family from some sort of heaven. While it's not the best book I have ever read, it is definitely worth the read. It is very new, but I felt like it was a little too full of cliches and stereotypes. For example, almost every character in the book was pretty moody and "alternative." I definitely don't think there is anything wrong with those types of people at all, but not every person is like that. I think a of times authors nowadays seem to think that those are the most interesting people to write about because they are seemingly the most complex (I found this to be true in Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper, which was was one giant cliche/stereotype in my opinion). However, I think that people who do not go to Juliard or another really well known school are interesting too. I think sometimes authors are just trying to hard that really agitates me. Someone should write about a girl who just goes to college and has nothing exceedingly interesting going on in her life. After all, this tends to be most of us.
