The book the Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold, is one of my favorite books of all time. I was reminded of this book when I saw a preview for the motion picture of this novel which comes out soon. It is the story of a girl who was brutally raped, murdered, and dismembered by a man unknown to her family. She watches down from heaven and remains in a liminal state at she attempts to come to terms with her death. She tries to leave clues and lead her family in the direction of her killer as she observes how her death has affected them. This story is interesting to me because it gives a different perception on death. Instead of seeing the story through the eyes of the family, you are seeing the story unfold through the eyes of the ghost of the girl. Eventually, the man is found guilty of several murder's with the help of the ghost girl. The girl sees into his past and almost feels bad for the man as she comes to terms with her death.
