Rachel Goodwyn-Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture-Flow
Flow is a holistic sensation present when we act with total involvement, a state in which action follows action with no apparent need for conscious internal reaction on our part. It is a chain reaction of events. A person who has flow is in the zone, which is when you think about the action you are performing then you are no longer in the zone. For example, in music when people are just jamming and in the zone then sometimes that is when their best music is written, but when they start thinking about what note comes next then they are no longer in the flow. Also, when someone is playing sports they can be in the zone and focused, but when they begin to analyze what they are doing then that can sometimes cause them to mess up. The holistic sensation is the feeling effects of one’s whole being. This also has to do with total involvement with the mind and the body that consumes the person always. The flow can also be a description of the happening.
