The Solace of Fierce Lanscapes: Exploring Desert and Mountain Spirituality by Belden C. Lane is about the authors experiences in the desert at different locations with his mother dying of cancer and alzheimers. This book uses many quatations from tons of people to help depict the desert as danger and desolation. Lane rediscovers the meaning of love with his encounters with the holy one in desolate places, and is an account of the connection between spirituality and place. This is an excellent book that realtes to the course because of the fact that it incorporates one's own personal experiences to show a direct connection between wilderness, spirituality, and religion.
