11. Walden Transcendentalist Vs. Spirituality in Wilderness Daniel Sharp
Transcendentalists seek to live in the outdoors and wilderness because they look upon the normal life in the modernizing world as a negative and harmful thing. The people who practice spirituality in wilderness do not exactly see the normal life as a bad thing but simply wish to escape from it and possibly learn things in wilderness that will change the way they look at everything in life. This is drastically different from Transcendentalists because they are actually trying to improve their lives within society by seeking a better understanding through the use of journeys and wilderness. While in the liminal the people trying to experience spirituality in wilderness are trying to grow and put things into perspective so they go back into society.
