13. Participating in Landscapes Daniel Sharp
The third axiom of sacred place was sacred landscape can be tred upon without ever entering it. This refers to the idea that simply walking through a landscape, sacred place or not is not a way to connect with it at all. You have to listen to what the landscape is trying to say to participate in it. Time has to be spent in the landscape where the individual interacts with aspects of the ecosystem. The person actually has to be willing to interact with landscape. Personal experience in the landscape allows the individual to connect on a deeper level with it and sometimes experience something spiritual while someone who is just walking through would never have that spiritual connection.
