5. Communitas Turner Daniel Sharp

Communitas is closely related to liminality because communitas often occurs when people are in the liminal on a journey together. This happens because they have all left behind the occupations and restrictions of normal society so they have a new way of interacting. Communitas is an unstructured society in which everyone plays an equal role in. If an individual begins to take control of the community and begins to structure it than communitas is no longer present. In its essential communitas is simply a community of people set up without all the standards and norms that tie people down in the “real world.”
