Aaron Hackett nature experience 2: Rainy
I have had little chance to get outside and enjoy nature this semester, but I have definitely been having interactions with the weather. The nor’easter that came through CNU was one of the most intense experiences of weather that I have ever felt. The first day of it was terrible because I had forgotten that I had rain boots and had to take on the huge puddles with my regular shoes. The feeling of constant discomfort while outside was inescapable. Even with my heavy rain jacket and my hood pulled tight, I was still freezing cold. Luckily, I eventually found my rain boots and getting around wasn’t such a chore. This same day I found my rain boots I had a jam session with a few good friends. Of course, the power went out and we were disheartened, but only momentarily. We decided that an acoustic jam could be just as good and headed to my friend’s house off campus. The resulting jam was one of the best I’ve ever participated in. Never before had I felt a progressing rhythm so much that after the rest of the band could no longer keep up, I was able to perpetuate it. In this way I was able to experience both the good and the bad of the nor’easter. It took away a couple of days of comfort only to set up an epic jam session.
