Christine Nowak Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture #1

The main word I always remember from reading this book was "liminality". Professor Redick defined this as the point of in-between, where you you have started to cross over, but haven't quite reached your destination yet. This concept is usually symbolized through an act such as crossing over a bridge. This shows you are in the middle of crossing over into a new place. This usually takes place during a type of pilgrimage, as stated in the title of the book. I think that many experience this stage in their life when they are going through a significant change.
