Communitas versus community is a concept present in Turner's "Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture". A communitas is what I consider to be the "perfect community". All people are considered to be at the same level, no one is rated above each other in this type of society. This is what I think our society should strive to be like. Although this would be nice, this type of place is probably only achieved when people are set apart from the modern world, such as in the country, or the mountains. Community, rather, is what our type of society is considered to be like, where there are rankings and people considered more powerful than others.
