Daniel Blakely Student Choice 1
This class overall has really opened my eyes to the idea of landscape as a character. While this may seem distant to the class, I feel like I have learned how to think in a completely different mindset and how to involve the wilderness as part of an experience. It is not simply forcing an experience onto a landscape, but instead sharing the experience with the landscape. I believe this has helped me to become a better writer because I can think more abstractly about the participation of objects in an experience. While I know that trees don’t think and I know that bushes can’t talk, both objects can communicate a sense of the sacred when approached in the appropriate manner. This is difficult to communicate, but basically I feel like by understanding a sacred experience better, I am able to understand myself better.
