Turner Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture. Community and Communitas are similar but different. Communitas is “A relational quality of communication, even communion, between definite and determinate identities, which arises spontaneously in all kinds of groups, situations, and circumstances.” Pilgrimage goes hand in hand with communitas. Pilgrimage foces people to communicate with each other. Communication is a very broad term to define, and includes nonverbal communication as well.
