Samson Girma- Phenomonological

One of Lane’s ideas that we spent a lot of time discussing is the phenomenological approach. By understanding this view, you can better understand your experience with place. We learned that a lot of people go somewhere and try to create an experience, but this isn’t possible. The best experience is when you go somewhere, interact with the place, and allow the special experience to come to you. It is a two way experience, when you use all of your senses to interact with and give to the place, it gives back to you. Many people don’t understand this but I think it comes naturally to you once you’ve been in wilderness long enough and you stop trying to create and you allow things to take their natural course.
