Final Reflection

This course has been an interesting one, addressing topics I have never thought of, and doing a decent amount of writing on a subject that I am certainly not an expert on. I do not believe I ever connected spirituality to a place or considered a place sacred, at most I have considered a place important to me, but that’s about it. Clearly the authors of our course texts, Dr. Redick, and even the Lion King are truly passionate about the subject matter, a subject that is complex to say the least. It is interesting how we all can read the same passage but interpret in such different ways, that can be said for any text, but for spiritual text, part of the understanding is in our interpretations. We have heard first-hand accounts about sacred places, read journals, and done research on the subject, but most of us still have a long way to go before we can be considered experts.

Hopefully from now on we can take what we have learned and apply it to future situations and places we go. Maybe we will be influenced to travel more, or live in the moment. Often enough we do not appreciate what nature has to offer and maybe this course has provided the groundwork for that. Spirituality, religion, and sacred space all fit together quite nicely when examining the relationship between the three and we certainly have examined that in this course. It’s been an interesting but long semester and now it is time for this blog to come to an end.
