Christine Nowak Landscapes of the Sacred #1
Lane's four axioms that are found in the Landscapes of the Sacred book are extremely useful. The one that I think is the most true is the first axiom, Sacred place is not chosen, it chooses. This goes back to the idea that God chooses your journeys and experiences for you in order for you to grow as a person. For example, in the movie Cold Fever, the Japanese business man is prepared to go to Hawaii on a golfing trip, but his trip is interrupted when he finds out he has to go to Iceland to perform a special ritual for his parents that died. He didn't know at the time, but God had chosen for him to go on this trip because he knew he would change as a person, and realize his spiritual side that he had been missing out on his whole life.
