7. Pilgrimage in Christianity Turner Daniel Sharp

Turner’s book focuses on pilgrimage throughout Christian culture. There have been countless tales of pilgrimage throughout the history of Christianity. Some of the pilgrimages are still practiced by millions of Christians around the globe each year. People travel from all around the world to visit Rome and the Vatican where the pope resides. While even more people travel to Jerusalem each year because of its sacredness to three different major religions. Why do people practice pilgrimages so often? Perhaps it is because they cannot find their God where they are, and they travel to sacred sites across the globe in search. Although God cannot be found in any one location people hope to change and understand things more clearly after their journeys.
