9. Walden self sufficient Daniel Sharp
Henry David Thoreau’s Walden capture the Transcendentalist ideals and beliefs almost perfectly. His work also aligns with a lot of beliefs that many experts of spirituality in the outdoors hold. One of the largest points of his “experiment” was to live as a self sufficient individual. This idea is keystone to people who are also taking journeys through wilderness. They have to look out for themselves because they are in an unsettled and unfamiliar landscape that man does not normally live in. Although Henry David Thoreau acknowledges he is not in an actual wilderness he does remain self sufficient like many of the hikers who go through wilderness do.
