Christine Nowak Natural Visit #2
I have never been an outdoorsy person in my life. Although I love going to the beach or talking a walk with friends, things such as camping have never interested me. Last fall my family brought the idea up with me to go on a family camping trip. I had no desire to go on this trip at all, but agreed because I knew it would make them happy. We went to a campground in Shenandoah and set up our tents for a two night stay. The bugs, dirt, and mud were driving me up the wall. We decided to take a hike on one of the trails in the campground, which I never would have guessed would be as hard as it was. Seeing how happy my family was during this camping trip made me feel like I at least needed to give it a try. The next day I tried to enjoy the stay, and I came to realize that it was actually very peaceful. Having a break away from friends, and getting time to spend with people you love in a setting away from home is a nice little vacation. I actually ended up really enjoying the camping trip, and would love to go back soon. Escaping the material world shows you that you really don't need half of the stuff in your life, as long as you are happy.
