Natalie Gilbert: Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture
The idea of flow which is discussed by Turner is consider the merging of action and awareness then ultimately creating the important component of enjoyment. Flow is made possible only when one’s attention is centered on a limited stimulus field. This state of no interruption is where the ego is lost and the idea of self become irrelevant. Many give up the comforts of life in order to search for the sense of flow. This inner state of pure enjoyment, is it relatable to the experiencing of the sublime? Can the idea of complete loss of self in flow and the idea of self insignificance in the sublime be interrelated?
