Noland Trail and Destruction: Katrina Thralls
As I walk the Noland trail, I notice that there is destruction everywhere. There are fallen trees, dying and dead animals, and the realization that most people are so poorly evolved and sheltered that there is no way they would survive if not for technology. True, some might point out that from this destruction comes rebirth. Nature may be beautiful or wild or spiritual, but there is a reason people have put up boundaries to these. Wilderness is terrifying and ugly and we are naturally inclined to believe that these things are not beautiful, if we had not been conditioned through pictures and other forms of media through our life to believe that we are safe from these elements. The lies promised to us by ski lodges commercialize and soften the environment.
