Wilderness Therapy - Nina Salzberg

There’s a substance abuse treatment center called Phoenix Outdoors that helps kids age 13-17 who are troubled or in need of help. They take them through the wilderness on hikes and camping. This helps the teens feel like they belong in a community and are connecting with their peers who are going through somewhat the same thing. I think that wilderness therapy is very helpful to kids that are troubled. It can help the communicate with others more properly because they are stranded out in the wild with no technology or people they know. Wilderness therapy can also maybe help the kids discover themselves. And maybe even find God or whatever they might believe in. They are free from peer pressure and media so they dont have that extra pressure of trying to be cool or fit in.
