Dwain Harrison - Outside readings/research

For our 10 page assignment, i chose to focus on mountains and the history they entail. I looked at various sources to help my study, but the most prevalent source was the Bible. The Bible shows a lot of the sacredness of mountains. When you look at Moses, he is the prime example of religion and mountains. In the Old Testament, he is on a mountain when God speaks to him through a burning bush. Next, he ascends a mountain to receive 2 stone tablets on which were inscribed the Ten Commandments which lay as a central tenet to a lot of faiths. Next, we look at the Sermon on the Mount which occurred in the New Testament and involved Jesus and his notable list of beatitudes. Mountains are extremely sacred places that host a vast amount of historical revelations.
