Joseph Rivera: Phenomenological approach

One experience I had with nature was not necessarily very peaceful or nice. I am referring to time when I went white water rafting. This was a very scary experience for me because I was inexperienced in white water rafting. It was very difficult guide the boat and I was even tipped into the water a couple times. It was crazy to think that even though we had paddles to try to correct our course the river did not care and took us to where it wanted like it was in control. This was definitely experience when we were tipped over and it was just me and the water. At this point I was at the complete will of what direction the river wanted me to travel in. It is kind of what Lane talk about when he mentions the phenomenological approach. This approach depicts that the place itself influences its surroundings.
