Crystal Kernan #2 Landscapes of the Sacred
For a student like myself to fully understand what constitutes a sacred place, it helps to learn and comprehend the three approaches to the Medicine Wheel. These approaches offer three different ways of interpreting place as chora. To me the ontological approach is the power one feels by a place. Secondly, the cultural approach is our own culture and how we live. Ultimately, the cultural approach tries to explain the feeling of a particular place. Lastly, the phenomenological approach is basically a comibination of the first two approaches. We are able to use these basic fundamentals to understand sacred place and how it functions.
